Amateur my ass... then again so am I. Natural eyes we have. Was about to ask if you worked with insects or something, but being that this is all done in your yard makes it even more impressive. *astounded*
I'm an amateur photographer, myself, Duggie Also, I am a very amateur gardener. This was my first year of actually planting & nurturing my own little container garden (I have no yard as I live in an apartment complex) It's had it's ups & downs, but over all, taking care of green things is very good for the soul I love all of your nature photos, by the way....even the spiders!!!
when i moved to galax 12 years ago from cana va we found a beautiful house with 5 apple trees, 2 pear and peach trees, the cherry trees have long passed they were old but they were beautiful the we still have the apple trees and one peach tree left still so gorgeous and tasty after all this time....and a fantastic garden which is still here just taken over by the golden flowers, i can see where a person would want to shoot at their own home theres a million things to see and do if you keep it up and maintain the garden....most of mine are at home too or not far from....
well you got to start some where!! that's where most of my photography is done too , and where I started in my own back/front yard with just alittle point and shoot Ive upgraded a bit but I'm stil no profecinal!
From one amateur to another, I think you have some amazing pics, love all the detail, especially the spiders. I live in Wisconsin, and am amazed at the similarities in spiders-I don't know much about them, only look them up when I see them in my yard or while out walking or hiking, but I saw at least three in your gallery that are the same or similar varieties to the ones I have in my yard. Anyway, call yourself a photographer, not an amateur, it's not how much schooling you've had to take the picture, it's the final product that defines you as an artist.
I'm an amateur myself. I don't have a fancy cam...just my trusty Canon Powershot. But I'm always trying to fill the memory card. Lol. A lot of my images are from around my house, but we do a lot of hiking and such, so it gives me a much larger diversity. Seems I've found another part of being an artist. Which could explain why there is more photography on my page than traditional works. Either that, or I'm just too lazy to upload them.
